H&S Officer

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking an H&S Officer to oversee the implementation and monitoring of health and safety requirements. This role is critical during the construction phase of major building and hospitality developments, ensuring compliance with project HSE standards, Saudi Arabian regulations, and international best practices. The H&S Officer will support the creation of a safe working environment for all personnel on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the project Health and Safety Management System in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure contractors comply with approved health and safety plans, procedures, and regulatory obligations.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous engagement with project teams and contractors.
• Monitor safety performance indicators and recommend improvements to enhance site safety.
• Support the development and implementation of safety initiatives and awareness campaigns.

Site Safety Monitoring and Compliance

• Conduct routine safety inspections of work areas, equipment, access routes, and temporary facilities.
• Verify compliance with safe work practices for high-risk activities including work at height, lifting operations, excavation, and confined space entry.
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment and implementation of site safety controls.
• Ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly for identified safety observations and violations.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and ensure compliance with local authority requirements.

Core Functions

The role encompasses several core functions, including Health & Safety Management, Site Safety Monitoring and Compliance, Risk Assessment and Incident Management, Training and Awareness, Stakeholder Coordination, and Reporting and Documentation. These functions are integral to maintaining a robust safety framework on site.
