About the Role

ACWA Power is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This full-time role involves planning and supervising all maintenance activities for plant mechanical equipment, including preventive and corrective maintenance, monthly/annual outages, and overhauling work. The position operates under the direction of the Section Head – Mechanical / Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign preventive and corrective maintenance jobs as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance staff.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence related to work.
  • Execute work orders through CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with the Planning Engineer for job completion and technical matters.
  • Maintain necessary communications and relations to report on the status of matters requiring action and ensure corrective action is undertaken.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in executing corrective and planned maintenance in line with the annual scheduled maintenance plan.
  • Perform technical evaluation of quotations received from the Purchase Department and recommend appropriate choices.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables, ensuring budgetary compliance and strategic spares availability.
  • Review and recommend new maintenance procedures and work instructions.
  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of all personnel assigned to the area.
  • Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments are carried out, controlled, and updated.
  • Implement, monitor, and report IMS objectives, targets, and programs.
  • Provide necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance of IMS.
  • Ensure legal compliance with respect to the scope of activities.
  • Identify root causes for non-conformances/deviations and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions.
  • Carry out annual performance evaluations of reporting employees.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.
  • Identify, document, and control hazards in the assigned work area.
  • Ensure identified aspects are monitored and operational controls are followed.
  • Report deviations in the Integrated Management System, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Report emergencies, incidents, and near misses.
  • Ensure effective resource utilization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a relevant mechanical engineering role.
