Pharmacist (Out Patient)

About the Role

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib (HMG) is seeking a Pharmacist - 3 (Out-Patient) to join their team. This permanent position involves compounding and dispensing medications and prescriptions, ensuring adherence to established pharmacy procedures and accepted standards. The role also includes providing essential patient counseling.

Job Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to accurately compound and dispense medications and prescriptions, maintaining compliance with all relevant standards and procedures. A key aspect of the role is to provide comprehensive counseling to patients regarding their medications.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret physician drug orders for clarity, rationality, dosage form, potential allergies, interactions, and incompatibilities.
• Respond to physician inquiries concerning drugs and their usage.
• Provide private patient counseling on medications, including special patient education when appropriate.
• Maintain strict control and security over all drugs, encompassing dispensing, accurate record-keeping, and secure storage of narcotics and controlled medications.
• Dispense home-going prescriptions for outpatients.
• Offer drug information and assist in instructing nursing and medical staff, as well as pharmacy residents, recommending solutions to the pharmacy supervisor.
• Contribute to assigned tasks aimed at maintaining national and international accreditation standards.
• Adhere to all hospital-related policies and procedures.
• Provide patient and family education as required.
• Participate in and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enhance patient experience through compassionate, respectful, and dignified care.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of knowledge, skill, and abilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in pharmacy operations, particularly within an out-patient setting. A strong understanding of pharmaceutical standards and procedures is essential.
