The Real Estate Lawyer Role

Moritz is seeking a Real Estate Lawyer for a contract position. This role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves serving as co-counsel for the firm's real estate work, with a primary focus on Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will manage various commercial real estate transactions and provide specialized legal advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as co-counsel for Moritz's real estate work in Saudi Arabia, covering commercial leases, sale and purchase agreements, real estate aspects of corporate transactions, and development and construction agreements.
• Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of leases and property transaction documents for clients ranging from startups to enterprises managing property portfolios.
• Conduct title review and property due diligence, including for real estate elements of M&A and financing transactions.
• Advise on real estate financing and security, planning and zoning questions, and landlord-tenant matters.
• Commit to meeting specified Service Level Agreements (SLAs), such as a 24-hour turnaround, when accepting work.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing commercial real estate law in private practice or in-house.
• Active license and in good standing with the bar or law society of Saudi Arabia.
• Professional indemnity insurance maintained or willingness to obtain in line with local requirements.

Essential Skills and Expertise

• Leasing depth: Experience with office, retail, industrial, and flexible-space leases, including rent review, service charges, repair obligations, break options, and assignments.
• Transactional experience: Expertise in sale and purchase agreements, title review and due diligence, conditions, and completion mechanics.
• Financing familiarity: Knowledge of mortgages, security packages, and the real estate workstreams of corporate deals.
• Practical judgment: Ability to distinguish points that protect the client from those that may hinder a deal.
