About Lucid Motors

Lucid Motors is dedicated to creating mobility experiences through innovation. The company's vehicles are built on proprietary technology and a software-defined architecture, emphasizing a "Compromise Nothing™" approach to the automotive market. This involves integrating performance with sustainability, and design with engineering. Lucid achieves this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production managed in-house across global offices and manufacturing facilities.

Position Overview

The Sr. Brakes and Steering Engineer provides technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for steering and brake systems. This role is critical throughout vehicle launch, production ramp-up, and series manufacturing. The Senior Engineer serves as the primary plant engineering focal point for components such as steering gear, steering columns, intermediate shafts, tie rods, brake calipers, rotors, hoses, brake controls, parking brake components, and related chassis system interfaces. This is a full-time position requiring 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide production support and issue resolution for steering and brake systems.
  • Support vehicle launch and program activities.
  • Offer manufacturing, assembly, and end-of-line support.
  • Ensure system performance, supplier quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage sustaining engineering efforts after initial product launch, including the design and release of new parts for quality or assembly process improvements.
  • Design and develop automotive chassis components and assemblies to achieve high levels of NVH, durability, and manufacturability while optimizing cost.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and attribute owners across various departments, including Core Engineering, Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing, and Design Studio.
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Design, Product Development, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and external suppliers on tasks such as tool buy-offs and secondary component changes.

Daily Duties

  • Act as the plant technical expert for steering and brake components, assemblies, interfaces, and production build concerns.
  • Investigate and resolve vehicle build, fit-up, functional, dimensional, noise, vibration, leakage, durability, and quality issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis for manufacturing, supplier, validation, and field issues.
  • Implement containment actions and drive permanent corrective actions.
  • Support daily production meetings and manufacturing escalations to minimize downtime related to steering and brake system issues.

Required Experience and Support

  • Support prototype, DV, PV, and production vehicle builds.
  • Coordinate engineering change releases and plant implementation plans.
  • Track launch issues and ensure timely closure.
  • Support vehicle build events, launch reviews, production readiness reviews, and validation sign-off activities.

Collaboration and Quality Assurance

The engineer works closely with Design Engineering, CAE, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, Purchasing, and Plant Operations. This collaboration ensures vehicle quality, safety, functional performance, durability, NVH behavior, and manufacturing efficiency. The role is essential for rapid production issue resolution, launch support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
