About the Assistant Site Manager Role

Air Products is seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join our team in Al Jubail, Eastern Region. This full-time position requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in operations, engineering, or maintenance within the gas, petrochemical, or related industries. The Assistant Site Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Site Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing technical feedback from Engineering and Maintenance for troubleshooting, repair, and testing activities. This includes providing guidance to ensure the safety, reliability, and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems. The role involves managing plant production efficiently through data-driven decisions to meet safety and reliability targets, aiming for maximum profitability. Collaboration with business areas to identify productivity expansion projects is also a key function.

Operations and Maintenance Oversight

Ensuring the safety of all operations and maintenance personnel through the APQ Basic Safety Practice program is paramount. This includes managing work permits, LOTO, and confined space procedures. The role facilitates planning, organizing, auditing, and follow-up to integrate Air Products' safety culture into APQ operations. The Assistant Site Manager will ensure maintenance notifications in SAP are correctly processed and verified in the field. Participation in pre-work visits with Maintenance and Contractors to identify risks, preparing work permit related documents, and contributing to maintenance or process shutdowns and turnarounds are essential duties. Regular equipment testing, preventive maintenance, and managing interfaces with support departments are also critical aspects of this role.

Technical Guidance and Support

The Assistant Site Manager provides direction and guidance based on technical feedback, ensuring adherence to company HSSE policy and procedures, and meeting all environmental regulatory requirements. This includes ensuring Air Products and APQ standards, along with global best practices for EH&S, productivity, reliability, quality, and customer services, are met. The role involves building plant technical capability through coordination with Air Product’s Regional and Global teams, providing coaching and motivation to the operations team, and developing top-performing personnel. Incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis participation, along with implementing sustainable corrective actions, are also key responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering. A minimum of 10 years of experience in gas, petrochemical, or related industries within operations, engineering, and/or maintenance functions is required. Experience in Air Separation and/or Steam Methane Reformer Operations is considered a plus. A minimum of 6 years in line supervision of process operations roles is necessary. Proven coordination experience in a multi-team environment, including operations, engineering, and maintenance, is essential. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are required, along with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels and with external stakeholders. Proficiency in English speaking and writing is mandatory, as is knowledge of local environmental and health and safety requirements.
