About Air Products and the Role

Air Products, driven by innovation and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship, is seeking a Maintenance Rotating Equipment Superintendent. This full-time role is based in Al Jubail, Eastern, and is crucial for ensuring the safe, reliable, efficient, and sustainable operations of rotating equipment within the company's BHIG facilities. The Superintendent will manage maintenance activities, coordinate with various teams, and execute preventative and corrective maintenance across diverse technologies, including Air Separation (ASU), Steam Methane Reformer (HYCO), and CO2.

Role Overview and Leadership

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Superintendent is accountable for the safe and reliable operations of all rotating equipment across the JIGH, SATORP, and SASREF sites. This position involves leading a team of Technicians, establishing high maintenance standards, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert for root cause analysis and maintenance strategy. Key responsibilities include technical report writing, coaching junior Technicians, and ensuring critical spares management to enhance plant reliability and availability.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment, demonstrating leadership in company and industry safe work practices.
  • Ensure proper implementation and documentation of safety-related activities, including comprehensive risk assessments (JSA), safety investigations, and compliance with BHIG Basic Safety Practice programs (Safety Work Permits, LOTO, Confined Space).
  • Execute hands-on maintenance activities for troubleshooting, repair, and testing of rotating equipment, and provide technical support during commissioning.
  • Analyze process parameters from DCS trends to predict failures and assess equipment performance, applying correct maintenance based on operating conditions.
  • Apply and demonstrate knowledge in laser and DTI alignment techniques, including temperature compensating factors and holt bolting for hot applications.
  • Initiate inspection programs for critical equipment monitoring (vibration, temperature, pressure), creating work requests in SAP for deviations.
  • Develop work instructions for the maintenance team and provide input for critical spares inventory and lead times.
  • Lead rotating activities during turnarounds (TAR), including job package preparation, spares, materials, contractors, tools, and safety management.
  • Maximize the availability and safety of critical compression assets while minimizing unplanned downtime, using asset management techniques and condition monitoring.
  • Overhaul cryogenic services oxygen pumps, maintain clean rooms for oxygen service, and handle/install mechanical and dry gas seals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 15 years of demonstrated competency in the oil and gas industry on various rotating equipment, including reciprocating, centrifugal, screw, lobe, and diaphragm compressors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading overhauls of reciprocating, centrifugal, and screw compressors.
  • Hands-on experience working with reciprocating compressors and pump overhauls, including cryogenic pumps (especially in oxygen service), centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, high-speed integral pumps (*, Sundyne LMV models), screw, gear, and dosing pumps.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and achieve all reliability metrics regarding rotating equipment.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a Leadership, Supervisory, and Management role within a rotating equipment maintenance environment.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Strong organizational, planning, scheduling, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate across functions to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local environmental and health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of service provider contracts and technical support in the region is desirable.

Operational Commitment

The Superintendent will uphold Air Products and BHIG standards and best practices for EH&S, productivity, reliability, quality, and customer services, including SATORP and SASREF safety objectives. This role requires a commitment to continuous improvement, supporting on-call activities, and providing rotating recommendations outside normal working hours when consulted, contributing to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
