Role Summary

S-Chem is seeking a Superintendent Fixed Equipment Reliability to lead the Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineering group in Al Jubail, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for ensuring the mechanical integrity of all fixed equipment within the assigned area. The Superintendent will focus on minimizing equipment failure and optimizing equipment lifetime through expert oversight and strategic initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee fixed equipment mechanical integrity initiatives, driving improvements and corrective actions.
  • Support Capital Projects and Maintenance on fixed equipment design, construction, and replacement.
  • Contribute to the turnaround planning process, ensuring all statutory inspections and tests are carried out according to schedule, and that planned or unplanned maintenance actions occur on time.
  • Provide advice, counsel, and technical support for fixed equipment mechanical integrity issues.
  • Participate in corporate mechanical integrity steering teams to establish initiatives.
  • Oversee Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), including the preparation of failure analysis reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process relating to fixed equipment to ensure mechanical integrity considerations are properly addressed.
  • Oversee the preparation of calculations to determine the remaining life of fixed equipment.
  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for day-to-day planned and unplanned fixed equipment integrity events.
  • Perform any other relevant task as directed by the Manager Reliability Engineering.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Acquire funds for the end-to-end team’s activities and manage the assigned budget.
  • Accountable for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the managed team.
  • Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and managing organizational structure.

  • Strictly follow established environmental, health, safety, and quality policies and procedures to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services, and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Advocate for a strong safety culture across the organization.
  • Provide environmental, health, and safety leadership in maintaining a goal of zero incidents, process safety, and environmental events within the area of responsibility.
  • Develop and implement operational excellence (OE) requirements within the assigned area, coaching staff on expectations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Undertake accountabilities in the operational excellence process as set out in the schedule of responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the processes of continuous improvement for the managed area and the wider organization.

Required Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in fixed equipment reliability engineering or a closely related field, demonstrating a strong background in mechanical integrity and equipment optimization.
