Cost Control Accountant

About the Role

Malama is seeking a Cost Control Accountant to join their team in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. This full-time role is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and analyzing the company's cost structure across all brands and branches. The position focuses on identifying cost variances, investigating their root causes, and providing management with accurate analysis and actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze the cost structure across all brands and branches, including COGS, purchasing, inventory, consumption, production, waste, and transfers.
• Review recipes, standard costs, yields, and actual consumption on Foodics, ensuring costing data accuracy.
• Analyze actual costs against budget, standard cost, and previous periods.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and cost KPIs.
• Monitor purchasing prices and flag abnormal increases or variations.
• Investigate abnormal variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse, Central Kitchen, and Finance to implement corrective actions and follow up until issues are resolved.
• Review branch and Central Kitchen costs and identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
• Support the analysis of operating costs, including labor, utilities, maintenance, marketing, and delivery.
• Support month-end COGS closing and reconciliation, coordinating with Accounts to ensure cost data consistency between Foodics and Xero.
• Monitor compliance with approved budgets, costing standards, and company policies.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in cost control or a similar accounting function. The role requires a strong understanding of cost structures and the ability to perform detailed financial analysis.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in financial software such as Foodics and Xero is essential for this position, along with strong analytical skills to interpret cost data and identify trends.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. The role involves collaboration with various departments, including Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse, Central Kitchen, and Finance.
