About the Role

Wood is seeking a PE IV/ Site Senior Project Engineer to join its Project Management team. This full-time position is based in Al Khobar, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia, and involves contributing to project development at a remote site. The role requires a seasoned professional to manage and coordinate engineering activities across various project phases.

Project Execution and Deliverables

This role is central to ensuring project success through effective planning and coordination of engineering deliverables. Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the Project Execution Plan, Discipline Design Instruction, and Contract requisitions.
  • Preparing project plans and multi-discipline documents, such as basis of design and subcontract scopes of work.
  • Managing and coordinating engineering multidiscipline inputs and deliverables across multiple execution centers, including workshare and high-value engineering centers.

Quality Assurance, HSE, and Schedule Management

The Senior Project Engineer ensures adherence to quality standards, health, safety, and environmental protocols, and maintains project schedules. Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding and working within the quality system, monitoring and addressing deficiencies.
  • Ensuring Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) issues are identified and addressed throughout design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Developing Project Specific Procedures and ensuring engineering disciplines strictly comply with contract and scope of work.
  • Assuring the quality of engineering deliverables before issuance to the customer.
  • Chairing technical meetings with Third Parties and managing specific technical issues to completion.
  • Planning individual work activities, managing time, and liaising with disciplines for timely comment receipt.
  • Inputting to the work plan, setting targets, holding regular reviews, and expediting engineers to deliver on schedule.
  • Understanding reasons for delays and driving the development of recovery plans, resolving most delays or changes, and escalating only the most serious issues.

Team Leadership and Change Management

This position involves supervising technical professionals and managing project changes effectively. Key duties include:

  • Supervising the work of technical professionals in the delivery of engineering deliverables, including work checking.
  • Coordinating medium-sized interdisciplinary teams, typically comprising 10-50 individuals.
  • Communicating to facilitate work effort, motivating the team, and maintaining a strong, positive, and proactive attitude towards solutions.
  • Highlighting and quantifying changes that impact work and implementing approved changes.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will possess a strong background in project engineering and demonstrate leadership capabilities. Requirements include:

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant project engineering role.
  • Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, HSE principles, and project scheduling.
