About the Opportunity

Tangent International is seeking a DPI Performance Engineer for a contract position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on the critical monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization of Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) platforms and their associated network services.

Role Summary

The successful engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and health of DPI platforms. This involves comprehensive oversight of subscriber and application traffic, KPI/KQI performance, capacity utilization, and traffic trends. A key aspect of the role is conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and driving continuous optimization efforts across the DPI infrastructure. Collaboration is essential, working closely with various internal and external teams to ensure seamless operation and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor DPI platform CPU, memory, throughput, PPS, sessions, subscriber capacity, and utilization.
• Analyze application traffic, classification accuracy, and traffic trends.
• Investigate traffic spikes, drops, shifts, and abnormal behavior.
• Monitor throughput, latency, RTT, packet loss, connectivity, and other service-quality indicators.
• Maintain DPI performance dashboards, reports, KPI/KQI views, and thresholds.
• Troubleshoot service degradation and conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Correlate DPI issues across Core, IP, BNG/UPF, IGW, PCRF/PCF, OCS, and AAA domains.
• Perform traffic-growth and capacity forecasting.
• Recommend capacity expansion, traffic redistribution, and optimization actions.
• Conduct pre/post-change performance analysis for upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes.
• Work with DPI vendors on advanced troubleshooting.
• Automate reporting and analysis where appropriate.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in DPI performance engineering or a closely related field. This experience should include hands-on involvement with monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting of network services and Deep Packet Inspection platforms.

Team Collaboration and Vendor Engagement

The role requires strong collaborative skills to interface with various internal teams, including Core, IP, Internet Gateway, BNG/UPF, PCRF/PCF, OCS, AAA, Transmission, Planning, and Operations. Additionally, the engineer will engage directly with DPI vendors to resolve complex issues and drive platform enhancements, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
