Data Center Facility Engineer (Controls)

About the Role

Amazon Saudi Arabia is seeking a Data Center Facility Engineer (Controls) to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role is integral to AWS Infrastructure Services, which is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. The position involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation, ensuring the continuous availability of technical infrastructure within the data centers.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to and maintain the highest safety standards, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Address and remediate safety risks and issues in collaboration with other teams.
• Lead safety initiatives and projects.
• Support and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPS systems, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS units, Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC systems, Exhaust Fans, VFDs, and Transformers.
• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, emergency generator, HVAC, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within established internal SLAs.
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures.
• Drive innovation to reduce operational costs within facilities.

Daily Operations

• Work rotational shifts consisting of 4 days of 12-hour shifts (2 days followed by 2 nights), and 4 days off, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Respond to on-call rotation for off-duty emergency calls.
• Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds and log-taking (*, temperatures, voltages, currents).
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.

Physical Requirements

The role may require performing the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Occasionally move objects/material, adhering to weight limits in accordance with regulations.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Work in noisy environments.
• Work at heights and from ladders.
