About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Intelligent Transport Systems Expert to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is for a senior technical authority responsible for the planning, design, integration, and implementation of advanced ITS solutions across major road, infrastructure, and urban development programs.

Role Purpose and Impact

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver smart mobility systems that enhance traffic efficiency, safety, sustainability, and operational performance, in alignment with national and international standards. The ITS Expert will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from concept planning and design to system integration, testing, commissioning, and operational optimization, supporting the successful delivery of complex infrastructure and smart city initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and integration of Intelligent Transport Systems, including traffic management systems, adaptive signal control, incident detection systems, smart mobility platforms, and traveler information systems.
• Provide technical oversight to ensure ITS solutions are effectively integrated within road and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and review system architectures, engineering designs, technical specifications, and performance requirements.
• Ensure interoperability between ITS subsystems, including field devices, central control systems, and communication networks.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and operational analyses to support ITS deployment strategies.
• Provide technical oversight during procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational handover of ITS systems.
• Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
• Identify technical risks and provide mitigation strategies to ensure successful system implementation.
• Collaborate with clients, government authorities, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful ITS integration.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project coordination activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) planning, design, integration, and implementation.

Compliance and Standards

• Ensure compliance with applicable national regulations and international ITS standards such as ISO, IEC, IEEE, and relevant transport authority requirements.
• Ensure ITS systems meet safety, cybersecurity, and operational performance standards.
• Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance activities throughout project delivery.

Technical Guidance and Development

• Provide expert technical advice to support project objectives and delivery requirements.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, drawings, and operational documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project teams.
• Stay informed on emerging ITS technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
