About the Opportunity

Parsons Corporation is seeking a Project Sustainability Manager to join its site-based construction supervision team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role supports a major public realm development located in Diriyah, focusing on environmental management and sustainability throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field.

Project Context

The Diriyah development encompasses a series of iconic and neighborhood parks, open spaces, and over 55 kilometers of streetscape. The primary objective of this program is to establish a vibrant and inclusive environment designed to enhance livability, accessibility, and overall community well-being within the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to the Project Director/Construction Director and serve as the project lead for environmental management and sustainability on site.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the Project Environmental Management Plan and Sustainability Plan in alignment with Parsons standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Review and approve contractor’s Environmental & Sustainability Plans, CEMP, Waste Management Plan, Pollution Prevention Plan, and related procedures, ensuring project objective alignment.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, permit conditions, and sustainability targets (*, resource efficiency, waste reduction, carbon considerations).
  • Conduct regular environmental and sustainability inspections and audits on site, identifying non-conformances and ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee management of waste, noise, dust, air quality, water usage, soil protection, ecology, and hazardous materials in accordance with project standards.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities (*, noise, dust, water quality) and review monitoring reports, ensuring appropriate actions are taken as needed.
  • Collaborate with HSE, construction, and design teams to integrate sustainability principles into construction methods, materials selection, waste handling, and site logistics.
  • Support implementation of sustainability rating system requirements (*, LEED, Envision, or equivalent), including documentation, evidence gathering, and liaison with independent assessors, as applicable.
  • Provide technical guidance to Parsons and contractor teams on environmental best practices and sustainable construction solutions.
  • Lead or participate in environmental incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and reporting, and track implementation of corrective actions.
  • Prepare and deliver training and toolbox talks on environmental and sustainability topics to project staff and contractor personnel.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, regulatory authorities, and third-party auditors on all environmental and sustainability matters, including inspections and reporting.
  • Manage project environmental and sustainability reporting, including weekly/monthly reports, KPI dashboards, and summary presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that environmental risks and opportunities are identified early, assessed, and incorporated into project risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Support handover and close-out activities by verifying environmental commitments are fulfilled, documentation is complete, and sustainability targets/credits are properly evidenced.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainability from a recognized university.
  • Experience in environmental management and/or sustainability on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in a site-based role.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and permitting requirements applicable to construction projects in KSA or the GCC.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Environmental Management Systems and sustainable construction practices on major projects.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience with green building/sustainability rating systems (*, LEED, Envision, BREEAM, Mostadam or similar); relevant accreditation or certification is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead environmental and sustainability programs, conduct audits, and influence contractor performance.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and report-writing skills, with the ability to interface confidently with clients, regulators, and contractors.
  • Familiarity with HSE management systems and the integration of environmental and sustainability requirements within overall project HSE frameworks.
  • Experience in KSA or the GCC region is preferred.
