The Role of VP of Software Engineering

As the VP of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for the end-to-end software roadmap across Full Stack, Web, Machine Learning, DevOps, and Site Reliability. This role requires integrating these five disciplines to function as a cohesive system, primarily supporting the Think Fabric and ILM products. You will define engineering standards, build the organizational structure, and lead the hiring for each discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Own the software roadmap for Full Stack, Web, ML, DevOps, and SRE, aligning it with the hardware roadmap.
Manage ILM's serving path, including batching, memory management, cache behavior, and scheduling under concurrency, along with governing architectural decisions.
Establish and enforce engineering standards, including design reviews, benchmark standards, release gates, and production readiness, ensuring all results are measured on real hardware.
Ensure efficient model sharing across accelerators, including those of varying capacities and generations, which is central to the platform's commercial value.
Oversee reliability, including uptime, incident response, postmortem discipline, and fostering a corrective-action culture.
Build and grow a multidisciplinary team, hire leaders, and set performance standards for engineering.
Collaborate with Hardware Engineering on the telemetry interface between the Node and ILM, and on co-design decisions that require synchronized roadmap progression.
Maintain a credible presence in the code, capable of reviewing profiles, benchmarks, and challenging design decisions with evidence.

Qualifications and Experience

Over 10 years of relevant experience in software engineering leadership.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex software roadmaps across multiple disciplines.
Experience in setting and enforcing engineering quality standards.
Proven track record in building and scaling engineering teams.
Strong understanding of hardware-software co-design principles.
