Role Overview: Fleet Management Support Critical Planner

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Fleet Management Support (FMSS) Critical Planner to join its team in Taif. This full-time role is integral to supporting the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor arrangements with Saudi Arabia, focusing on equipment, support, and training provisions. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience and offers a competitive salary.

Key Purpose and Operational Context

The FMSS Critical Planner is responsible to the FMSS Team Leader, via the FMSS Scenario Modeller, for the development and enhancement of critical asset planning capabilities. This includes the creation of the PC Critical Asset Planning Tool and the formulation of ad hoc ‘What If’ asset management scenarios. The role provides crucial advice to the PC Logistics Inventory Optimisation Supply team, PC Stakeholders, and RSAF Fleet Management concerning assets on the Typhoon platform. All planning activities are conducted in alignment with RSAF Force priorities and integrated across the RSAF Command Structure, the Integrated Logistics Operations Centre (ILOC), and both RSAF and PC maintenance organizations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and report on Major Critical Assets, including Engines, Damocles LRP, and Pylons.
  • Monitor and report on recommendations that could affect Salam contractual deliverables.
  • Conduct continuous analysis of asset data to identify areas for future improvement in planning, tasking optimisation, and maintenance efficiency.
  • Provide proactive support and direction to on-base RSAF stakeholders to ensure effective planning and accomplishment of scheduled maintenance, programme changes, and operational requirements.
  • Offer fleet direction to other on-base Salam stakeholders regarding asset usage rates, Operator adherence, Scheduled, and Corrective Maintenance.
  • Contribute inputs for formal reports as required by key stakeholders from RSAF, BAE Systems SA, or BAE Systems.
  • Enhance and augment the capability of the current Fleet Management Organisation by developing and deploying:
    • Fleet management policy underpinned by repeatable processes and procedures.
    • Modelling capability using the Witness Toolset.
    • Strategic and tactical planning capability using the Mxi LRP Toolset.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive proven post-qualification practical maintenance/Continuing Airworthiness (CA) experience, supported by formal records, including substantial experience within a relevant CA environment.
  • Proven experience in a relevant management role.
  • Demonstrated familiar level of knowledge of Continuing Airworthiness, managed aircraft types, and the aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Practitioner level of skills in Fleet Planning and Aircraft Maintenance Programme.
  • Familiar level of skills in Reliability Programme and Modifications management.
  • Leadership skills and a proven ability to supervise personnel.
  • A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, a technical apprenticeship, or a suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
  • Part 66 licensed (current or lapsed), or a suitable equivalent technical license acceptable to M&CA.
  • Saudi Engineering Council (SEC) Registration.
  • Background as ex-military with experience serving on an operational military flying unit, or civilian experience with an industry partner in a fast jet role.
  • Experience in a high-tempo operational environment within a Fleet, Maintenance, or Supply position.
  • Proficiency in Witness, LRP, and MS Office applications.
  • Broad Project Management experience.

  • Ability to be tactful, discreet, and confident when interacting with individuals at all levels.
  • Capacity to work autonomously to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Understanding and practical application of Lifecycle Management (LCM) processes.
  • Experience in maintaining inter-team dependencies across supplier and customer boundaries.
  • Proven track record in training and mentoring staff at a senior level.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to coordinate a large number of diverse and complex activities, and to communicate, influence, and direct decision-making processes at all levels.
  • Ability to act upon own initiative within the defined scope of the job.
