About the Category Manager Role

Panda Retail Company – Savola Group is seeking a Category Manager for Beauty, Personal & Baby Care, specifically focusing on Baby Care. This full-time position is based in Makkah, with opportunities in Jeddah and Makkah. The role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves driving category business plans through a customer-centric approach.

Core Responsibilities

The Category Manager will be responsible for managing assigned assets to achieve category roles and scorecard results. This includes developing and executing category strategies across product assortment, pricing, promotion, shelf presentation, and buying and inventory management. Collaboration with other functions and departments is essential for success.

Managerial Accountabilities

  • Ensuring direct reports have cascaded objectives and KPIs, with regular performance reviews and annual ratings.
  • Planning and monitoring training needs, providing professional coaching, and supporting personal development plans for direct reports.
  • Motivating employees, monitoring satisfaction levels, and implementing plans for improvement.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing to perform required tasks.

Functional Accountabilities

  • Managing total category performance and defining category roles, including Own Brand execution.
  • Building category strategy and translating it into actionable plans for sub-categories.
  • Designing category dimensions and planograms aligned with company strategy and customer needs.
  • Developing a strong understanding of customers and markets, identifying product trends and customer patterns.
  • Building sustainable Joint Business Plans and detailing key activities for sub-categories.
  • Setting building blocks and annual operating plans for category growth.
  • Improving inventory turns and managing supplier communication, item selection, promotions, forecasting, and sign-offs.
  • Conducting post-promotion reviews and analysis, and implementing category resets.
  • Identifying and filling market gaps (format, tiers, region) and actively seeking new business opportunities.
  • Rationalizing and optimizing the category.
  • Defining pricing strategy, setting sales prices, and managing category margins.
  • Monitoring and reviewing category profitability.
  • Setting MFQ & MDQ to improve category availability and monitoring planogram implementation to improve category footfall.
  • Developing CATMAN principles to enhance category footfall.
  • Conducting monthly and quarterly performance reviews with action plans.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles.
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods.
