About the Role

Delta Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Cluster Director of Engineering to oversee property maintenance across multiple locations in Makkah and Jeddah. This full-time position requires a strong understanding of building systems, safety protocols, and asset protection, with a focus on maximizing financial performance through effective engineering operations.

Engineering Operations and Budget Management

The Cluster Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance of buildings, grounds, and physical plants, with a particular emphasis on safety, security, and asset protection. This includes managing budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation initiatives. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to meet or exceed guest and employee expectations while optimizing financial outcomes and ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements. The Director will lead the emergency response team for all facility-related issues.

• Collaborate with property and regional engineering leadership to monitor budget performance and identify areas of concern.
• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Administer service contracts to support property needs.
• Ensure the fire crew has a comprehensive understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms.
• Coach and support the engineering leadership team in effectively managing controllable expenses such as wages, utilities, supplies, and vendor agreements.
• Oversee the management and control of heat, light, and power consumption.
• Develop an engineering operating strategy aligned with the property and brand's business objectives.
• Develop and manage engineering operating budgets.
• Ensure the integration of departmental goals into the game plans for each unit.
• Oversee the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans.
• Review financial reports to assess engineering performance against budget for each unit.
• Proactively address potential areas of concern and propose solutions to owners.
• Communicate clear and consistent departmental goals to achieve desired results.
• Supervise construction projects to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.

Maintaining Engineering Standards and Compliance

This role ensures adherence to all relevant state, local, and federal regulations. It also involves maintaining property life safety systems, including fire fighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems. The Director is responsible for ensuring that all building and equipment licenses, permits, and certifications are current for each unit and that property policies are administered fairly and consistently.

Profitability Management

The Cluster Director of Engineering manages operational areas to budget by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll progress reports. This includes monitoring and managing payroll functions and departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals. The role involves participating in the development of capital expenditure goals and managing associated projects, as well as contributing to the budgeting process for areas of responsibility. Weekly and period-end P&L critiques for each unit will be prepared, with an understanding of how departmental operations impact overall property financial goals.

Human Resources and Team Leadership

Ensuring employees are treated fairly and equitably is a key aspect of this role. Disciplinary procedures and documentation will be completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures, supporting the Peer Review Process. The Director will utilize employee feedback and an open-door policy to address concerns promptly and celebrate team successes through public recognition. Guest problems and complaints will be resolved, and issues will be escalated to Human Resources as necessary. Regular communication will take place to inform the engineering operation of daily activities, set expectations, and raise awareness of business objectives.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in engineering or a related field, with a proven track record in property maintenance and management. A strong understanding of building systems, safety regulations, and financial management is required. Experience in leading teams and managing budgets is essential.
