About the Role

YO IT Consulting is seeking a Physics QA Lead for a remote, hourly contract position. This role is crucial for overseeing the quality, consistency, and trainer performance across physics AI training projects. Your expertise will directly contribute to the improvement of leading AI models by ensuring physics training data is accurate, scientifically sound, clearly explained, well-documented, and meets client expectations. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing AI Data Services company that partners with major AI companies and foundation-model labs.

Role Overview and Impact

As a Physics QA Lead, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of physics-related AI training data. Your work will involve detailed review and evaluation of AI-generated content and the work of trainers and QA personnel. The goal is to ensure all physics training data adheres to stringent quality standards, scientific accuracy, and project-specific guidelines. While there is no immediate project assignment for this role, qualified candidates will be prioritized for future relevant opportunities and gain access to the company's expert network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review AI-generated physics content, explanations, calculations, diagrams, derivations, and experimental interpretations.
  • Evaluate output quality against project guidelines, assessing scientific accuracy, physical reasoning, calculation correctness, unit consistency, formula use, conceptual clarity, and adherence to rubrics.
  • Provide precise written feedback to contributors and communicate updates on guidelines and workflow changes.
  • Identify and flag recurring quality issues, misleading claims, physically impossible scenarios, or unsafe content.
  • Support the onboarding and training of physics contributors, including conducting calls and maintaining documentation.
  • Monitor contributor activity, encourage consistent engagement, and flag availability issues.
  • Help improve physics QA workflows and identify areas for quality enhancement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Astrophysics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative/scientific field.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in physics research, teaching, tutoring, laboratory work, science writing, academic review, engineering analysis, or similar scientific workflows.
  • Strong understanding of classical mechanics, electromagnetism, waves, optics, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, relativity, units, dimensional analysis, and mathematical modeling.
  • Proficiency in English for clear communication and feedback delivery.

Preferred Skills and Tools

  • Experience leading or supporting remote teams of educators, reviewers, researchers, or QAs is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, LaTeX, laboratory methods, data analysis, simulations, or numerical methods is preferred.
  • Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, scientific QA, or rubric-based review is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable using platforms like Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and project management systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to maintain documentation, style guides, and onboarding materials.

Work Arrangement

This is a remote, contract position. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with remote teams. Candidates should be comfortable with digital collaboration tools and platforms essential for remote work and project management.
