The Role: Senior Structure Engineer

WSP Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structure Engineer to join its Construction Supervision team. This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, and involves providing technical leadership on major building developments. The primary objective is to ensure that all structural works are executed in strict accordance with approved designs, project specifications, international standards, and local authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the supervision of structural works on large-scale building projects.
  • Review and approve structural shop drawings, calculations, method statements, material submittals, and temporary works proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor quality and progress of structural works.
  • Coordinate effectively with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Review contractor requests for information (RFIs), inspection requests, and technical submissions.
  • Identify non-conformances and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support the Resident Engineer in progress monitoring, reporting, and technical issue resolution.
  • Witness testing and commissioning activities related to structural systems.
  • Mentor and guide site inspectors and junior engineers within the team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 12–15 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience specifically on building construction supervision projects in the GCC region.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel construction methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing structural calculations and temporary works designs.
  • Familiarity with relevant authority requirements, including those of Dubai Municipality, DDA, and Trakhees.

Skills and Desirable Attributes

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Membership of a recognized professional engineering body is desirable.

Work Environment

This full-time position is an integral part of the Construction Supervision team, based in Jeddah, Makkah. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to significant building projects within a global firm.
