About the Housekeeping Manager Role
Le Meridien is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to oversee daily shift operations for Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry services. This full-time position requires an individual to direct and collaborate with staff to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and upkeep. The role involves conducting inspections and ensuring accountability for corrective actions, while also contributing to guest and employee satisfaction within the operating budget.
Key Responsibilities and Operational Oversight
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the efficient management of housekeeping operations. This includes verifying that guest room status is communicated promptly to the Front Desk, conducting daily inspections of guestrooms, and preparing work assignments based on immediate cleaning needs and anticipated check-outs. The role also involves managing inventory to ensure adequate supplies and supporting a comprehensive inspection program for all guestrooms and public areas. A key aspect is understanding and managing the department's impact on the property's financial goals, aiming to meet or exceed budgeted targets.
Staff Management and Development
This position involves supervising daily housekeeping shift operations and ensuring adherence to all established policies, standards, and procedures. The Manager will verify that employees are equipped with the necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms. Effective communication is crucial, involving clearly conveying areas needing attention to staff and following up to confirm understanding. Participation in departmental meetings is expected to consistently communicate departmental goals and drive desired outcomes. The role also includes training new room attendants, providing follow-up training, and establishing collaborative relationships with employees.
Performance and Guest Satisfaction
The Housekeeping Manager is tasked with scheduling employees according to business demands, tracking time and attendance, and ensuring employees understand their expectations. The role requires fair and consistent administration of property policies, including disciplinary procedures and documentation, in line with Standard and Local Operating Procedures. Supervising staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives is essential. The Manager will observe employee service behaviors, provide feedback, and ensure employee recognition programs are active on all shifts. Soliciting employee feedback and addressing concerns through an open-door policy are also key components.
Guest Relations and Continuous Improvement
A significant part of this role involves setting a positive example for guest relations and understanding the brand's service culture. The Housekeeping Manager will participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to enhance guest satisfaction, empowering employees to deliver excellent customer service. Emphasis will be placed on guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings, with a focus on continuous improvement. The Manager will also be responsible for responding to and handling guest problems and complaints, striving to improve overall service performance.
