About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Technical Specialist for Water Treatment Systems to join their team in Al Jubail, Eastern Province. This full-time, office/project-based role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in water treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and coordinate all activities related to the design, construction, testing, commissioning, production, treatment, delivery, and maintenance of potable and non-potable water systems.
• Identify and recommend solutions for operational and personnel issues, and participate in establishing and implementing work and safety standards.
• Develop and coordinate the preparation and maintenance of water system cost-effectiveness studies and programs, and assist in department budget preparation.
• Develop specifications for new equipment purchases and participate in bid reviews and contract awards.
• Coordinate a wide range of water chemical analyses to precise standards.
• Oversee support and testing/validation of systems during the installation, operation, and maintenance of water treatment equipment and associated mechanical systems.
• Interface with internal engineering, operations, real estate, and environmental health and safety and legal teams to develop and implement solutions in areas lacking adequate water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Oversee the maintenance, reliability, and compliance of on-site water treatment and disinfection systems.
• Conduct reviews from conceptual design through start-up and initial acceptance.
• Develop engineering scope of work for projects and prepare engineering change orders.

Qualifications and Experience

• University/Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Water Resources Planning, AND a minimum of fifteen years of water treatment and production experience or environmental engineering experience. Alternatively, any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Experience as a Responsible Engineer of Record and/or Final Certification of Deliverables fit for acceptance to Authorities is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of methods, principles, and practices of water distribution and treatment systems, including electrical and process instrumentation and control systems.
• Understanding of the principles of chemistry and physics, and laboratory practices and techniques used in surface and ground water treatment.
• A creative, solution-oriented technical thinker capable of working within and utilizing Technical Codes, Standards, and Procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Chartered Professional Engineer.
• 5+ years of experience with water chemistry and conventional/membrane water treatment technologies for industrial applications.
• 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting construction/engineering design drawings and equipment specifications, with the ability to carry design concepts through development and implementation.
• 5+ years of project-related experience working with government agencies, utilities, site development due diligence, and/or permitting entities.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, schematics, process control flow diagrams, system/network drawings, water quality laboratory results, detailed drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and maps.
• Experience in the design of mechanical systems for industrial/process projects/infrastructures.
• Experience in the design of chemical processes, specifically potable and industrial water treatment plants.
• Competent computer literacy and knowledge of design and visualization software.
