About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAAUH) in Riyadh is seeking a Cardiology Consultant for a full-time position. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive medical services for patient management within your specialty and privileges. The position also involves significant contributions to KAAUH's administrative, educational, and research initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

As a Cardiology Consultant, you are expected to operate with a practical understanding of KAAUH's Mission, Vision, Values, Bylaws, Code of Ethics, Code of Professional Conduct, and all job-related Policies and Procedures. You will actively practice KAAUH values, including Patient-Driven care, High Reliability, Teamwork, Professional Ethics, Learning and Sharing, and Performance-Driven approaches. A key aspect of the role involves providing patient and family education related to health learning needs.

Clinical Practice

• Provide patient care at a specialist level, adhering to the delineated scope of services and granted privileges.
• Deliver comprehensive patient care, including consultation services, follow-up care, performing procedures, and participating in on-call duties.
• Practice patient care across various settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, emergency rooms, operation rooms, day units, and intensive care units.
• Ensure patient care aligns with up-to-date best practices and scientific evidence.
• Comply with KAAUH quality improvement initiatives and practices to ensure a safe healing environment for patients, including adherence to hospital accreditation requirements.
• Empower patients and their families to actively participate in their health and wellness journey, contributing to an excellent patient experience.
• Demonstrate stewardship through high accountability, appropriate resource utilization, and a focus on efficient patient care processes.
• Supervise and contribute to the professional development of all team members under your responsibility (resident, assistant consultant, associate consultant), including performance evaluations.

Administrative and Academic Contributions

• Undertake administrative duties related to patient care, such as developing Clinical Management Guidelines, Clinical Pathways, and Evidence-Based Best Practices.
• Contribute to Quality Assurance and Improvement through audits, peer reviews, and Morbidity & Mortality rounds.
• Actively participate in KAAUH partnership opportunities and collaborations.
• Fulfill administrative requirements for the development of your division, department, executive department, or hospital, including procurement, medical staff recruitment and manpower planning, policy and procedure development, process improvement, department manual development, committee membership, and inter-departmental collaboration.
• Participate in general undergraduate and post-graduate teaching activities, adhering to staff rights and responsibilities.
• Provide regular teaching to all team members (senior and junior) appropriate to their level.
• Engage in educational activities within the service, section, and department, such as Grand Rounds, Journal Club, and daily morning meetings.
• Utilize continuing professional development events at KAAUH and maintain CME recertification requirements.
• Possess the minimal requirements and knowledge to conduct scientific research.
• Participate in research activities within the department/hospital and work towards scientific publications.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Graduation from a Medical school recognized by SCHS and acceptable to KAAUH.
• Successful completion of one year of Internship.
• Possession of a Board/Fellowship Certificate in an appropriate specialty recognized by SCHS and acceptable to KAAUH, or holding a current SCHS Registration/License or equivalent, or meeting the SCHS criteria for Consultant rank.
• Successful completion of three (3) or more years of training in a specialty field recognized by SCHS and acceptable to KAAUH.
• Three (3) years of relevant experience post board/fellowship certification.
• One (1) or more years of post board/fellowship specialty training outside Saudi Arabia in internationally accredited institutes, OR a graduate with board certificates and training with two (2) years full-time employment as a consultant or equivalent in a National accredited hospital acceptable to KAAUH (exempt from training board).
