About the Role

Riyad Bank is seeking a Fraud Data Lead to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to supporting the supervision, coordination, and assurance of data components within the bank's Anti-Fraud Strategy, Anti-Fraud Technology Strategy, and overall Anti-Fraud program. The Fraud Data Lead will coordinate data-related efforts across various bank areas and translate functional requirements into technological solutions for development plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Senior Management is informed of Anti-Financial Fraud data developments through regular and ad-hoc reports.
  • Coordinate data developments and plans, communicate relevant matters, and escalate incidents as needed.
  • Develop coding and scripts, and design databases and data points.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the Bank and the Anti-Financial Fraud department, as well as with vendors and third parties.
  • Provide technical knowledge to staff regarding data, integration, and functionalities.
  • Assist in managing the budget for the Fraud Systems & Analytics section, including licenses, maintenance, and updates, and track expenditure plans.

Strategy and Policy Development

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Anti-Fraud strategy and its objectives/initiatives, focusing on Anti-Fraud technology and data.
  • Propose adjustments to the Anti-Fraud strategy and Technology Strategy as needed.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the Anti-Fraud Framework/Program related to technology and data.
  • Develop or update required policies and procedures for applying the Anti-Fraud program.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Anti-Fraud Policy, Technology, Data-related Processes, Procedures, and relevant Standards.
  • Escalate proposed adjustments or changes to Anti-Fraud Policies, Processes, and Procedures to stakeholders as the fraud landscape evolves.

Data Analysis and Fraud Prevention

  • Develop data queries, statistical analysis, and reports to identify key data elements for monitoring and identifying emerging fraud trends and behavioral patterns.
  • Lead the analysis of emerging fraud trends, fraud risk criteria, and high-risk customer segments.
  • Develop and propose fraud strategies and rules to mitigate risk and loss.
  • Utilize data queries, decision tree models, and other decision science tools to predict fraud risk, forecast fraud trends, and provide business insight.
  • Conduct ad-hoc reviews across bank areas to identify internal fraud and collect data from non-fraud internal systems for investigations.
  • Identify and map all fraud-related data points, unify data formats, and manage external information sources for fraud landscape overview.
  • Prepare and maintain Management Information dashboards, KRI metrics, and Fraud Risk Appetite data.
  • Analyze suspicious fraud events, user sessions, and transactional data (*, Instant Payment, debit/credit card) to identify patterns and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Define and propose additional controls and revised operations based on data analysis results, and optimize monitoring rules and scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Fraud Risk Advisor, Threat Intelligence Analysts, Fraud Investigations, and Cyber/AML teams to share intelligence and relevant information.
  • Participate in the development of digital identity protection systems and fraud detection.

Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Supervise and review the work of analysts, providing feedback, conducting knowledge transfer, and acting as a point of reference for team members.
  • Lead team members on compliance activity and provide full support.
  • Ensure staff have clear objectives, regular performance feedback, annual appraisals, and individual development plans, especially for talented Saudi national staff.
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices, considering international best practices, cost reduction, and productivity.
  • Prepare department reports for Riyad Bank and submit reports to regulators timely and accurately.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in data analysis, fraud prevention, or a related field within the financial sector. A strong understanding of anti-fraud strategies, technologies, and data components is essential for this role.
