Homeroom Teacher

About the Role

Misk Schools is seeking a Homeroom Teacher for its Junior School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on the education of students from KG1 to Grade 3 (ages 3 to 9), with a primary responsibility for achieving high standards in student work and conduct. The role involves encouraging student participation in classroom and school activities while prioritizing the safeguarding and well-being of all students.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning aligned with the Misk curriculum and local requirements.
• Establish a safe and stimulating learning environment for students.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver schemes of work, provide feedback, and teach in accordance with school and departmental procedures.
• Maintain records of student progress, including all statutory documents, and produce reports and grades as per the school calendar.
• Conduct termly interviews with parents to discuss student performance and progress.
• Ensure the good order and safety of students during registration, record attendance, and oversee general welfare, reporting individual needs via the information management system.
• Monitor and record student rewards and sanctions.
• Employ a variety of motivating and stimulating approaches to student learning, differentiate instruction based on student needs, and evaluate/modify planning as necessary.
• Provide pastoral support and carry out duties of care as a homeroom or form tutor, including during non-class times.
• Understand and implement all welfare and safeguarding policies, promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all pupils.
• Liaise with other staff, such as the school nurse and educational counselors, as required.
• Follow regulations for attendance registers and effectively implement emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Conduct standardized or other tests when required and document student performance.
• Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings, team planning meetings, and all training days.
• Supervise students during morning parade, dismissal, playtimes, lunchtimes, and assemblies when required.
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure satisfactory transfers of children within and between schools.
• Promote subjects within the school and provide co-curricular opportunities and additional activities outside the classroom.
• Identify the needs of individuals and groups within the class and liaise with the learning support team.
• Utilize school-approved digital technology tools and liaise with the cultural committee to ensure culturally acceptable lesson materials.
• Ensure all students meet the school's progress and attainment targets.
• Teach no more than 20 lessons per week as directed by the school principal.
• Support with cover and duty as needed by the principal, including assemblies and co-curricular/enrichment activities.
• Undertake any other reasonable requests by the principal or line manager.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

The Homeroom Teacher is required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, adhering to the school's safeguarding policies and staff code of conduct. This role involves direct support to the designated safeguarding lead to ensure the safety and well-being of all students at the school as a priority.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience required: 0-1 years.
• A working knowledge of relevant curricula and educational documents.
