About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Manager - Testing & Commissioning - STATCOM Specialist to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is responsible for the end-to-end commissioning and grid integration of STATCOM systems. The role focuses on ensuring these systems provide dynamic voltage support and reactive power management for renewable plants and substations across various projects.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that STATCOMs operate reliably under dynamic grid conditions. The specialist will be responsible for verifying that these systems meet utility acceptance, power quality, and stability requirements, contributing to the overall efficiency and stability of the grid infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Review STATCOM system documentation and provide input to the engineering team based on experience. This includes:

Power circuit diagrams, control philosophy, and protection settings.
Cooling, auxiliary power, and harmonic filter configuration.
Substation protection schemes.
PPC and SCADA systems.

Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and control validation exercises.

Commissioning Duties

Verify the installation quality of:

Voltage Source Converters (VSC).
Cooling systems (air/liquid).
Control and protection panels.

Conduct pre-commissioning checks, including:

Documentation and readiness verification.
Civil, electrical, and mechanical completion verification.
Auxiliary power checks.
Control and protection system readiness.
Communication, PPC, and SCADA integration.
Safety and interlock checks.
Insulation and grounding checks.
Grid interface readiness.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field. This role requires a foundational understanding of STATCOM systems and their integration into grid infrastructure.
