Parsons Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position that contributes to the delivery of significant airport, aviation, and infrastructure projects. Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will provide essential technical engineering support across various project phases, including design, coordination, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure all mechanical works comply with approved designs, project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across aviation and infrastructure project packages.
  • Analyze mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with Civil, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Fire & Life Safety, ICT, and architectural disciplines.
  • Provide technical support for airport and infrastructure mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, pumping systems, utilities, and specialist mechanical systems.
  • Review mechanical equipment selections, technical specifications, data sheets, and vendor submissions.
  • Support the development and review of Material Submittals, Method Statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor mechanical works for compliance with approved engineering requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to construction teams and resolve technical issues encountered during site execution.
  • Support testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and functional performance testing of mechanical systems.
  • Review and verify as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing records, commissioning documentation, and handover dossiers.
  • Identify design coordination issues, constructability concerns, and technical risks, recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Support value engineering and constructability initiatives to improve system performance and project cost effectiveness.

Technical Compliance and Standards

The role requires ensuring all mechanical works comply with applicable industry standards and codes. This includes adherence to ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, IPC, IMC, SMACNA, ASTM, ISO, and other project-specific standards. The engineer will also coordinate with Procurement and Vendors regarding technical requirements, equipment delivery, and documentation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical engineering support for design, construction, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Experience with airport, aviation, or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Ability to review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, and design clarifications.

Work Environment and Collaboration

This position involves active participation in technical coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders. The Mechanical Engineer will coordinate with Quality and HSE teams to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards. Additionally, the role includes providing technical guidance to junior engineers, inspectors, and site teams, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
