Senior Project Manager (Expo)

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role reports to the Delivery Director and involves supporting the overall leadership and supervision of the Construction Delivery Team across an assigned portfolio. The Senior Project Manager will also deputize for the Delivery Director and Package Managers as needed, ensuring continuity during absences, meetings, or peak workloads.

Project Context: Expo 2030 Riyadh

The Expo 2030 Riyadh project, themed “Foresight for Tomorrow,” is a global platform promoting sustainable development and innovation. Scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031, the event anticipates over 40 million visits. Bechtel, in collaboration with Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC), will manage the infrastructure program for the 6 km2 Masterplan. This includes early works, utilities, and public spaces, with the site transitioning into a mixed-use legacy development post-event. The project adheres to international sustainability standards for urban afforestation, treated water, and energy sources.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Delivery team in managing design, contractor procurement, construction oversight, and compliance with drawings, specifications, standards, and schedules.
• Ensure adherence to ES&H plans, quality standards, and local/national regulatory safety codes.
• Resolve non-standard issues escalated from the team, applying extensive industry experience and innovative approaches.
• Oversee the performance of general contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, and change management systems.
• Support the team in ensuring continuous work fronts by reviewing look-ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules, and contractor submittals.
• Assist stakeholders in securing required permits and licenses before site work commences and verify compliance with stipulations.
• Maintain effective relationships with the client, stakeholders, and other functional departments, coordinating all jobsite contractual activities.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Manage and support the team in overseeing contractors and third parties to ensure timely delivery of works and handover to successor activities, meeting overall program objectives.
• Ensure that plans and procedures are in place and complied with for all engineering, procurement, and construction activities, including strict adherence to local and national regulatory codes, ES&H, and quality requirements.

Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

The Senior Project Manager supports the Senior Leadership Team in executing the agreed strategy and acts as a primary point of contact for the Client, fostering strong stakeholder engagement. This role involves overseeing and supporting program delivery through to completion, including planning, directing, and coordinating team activities, and monitoring performance against project objectives. The position drives consistent implementation of Safety and Quality programs across the portfolio, promoting standardization and delivery excellence. Collaboration with the ESH Director and Quality Manager is essential to integrate safety, quality, and operational requirements while maintaining strategic alignment with the Client for successful program outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise construction delivery teams.
• Proven experience in managing project performance, cost control, and change management systems.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality, and environmental requirements in construction projects.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within a multi-functional team dedicated to managing project performance and progress for the Expo 2030 Riyadh infrastructure program.
