About the Opportunity

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSH) is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join its Critical Care team in Medina. This full-time role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care and serving as a vital resource in patient management and emergency response within a critical care setting.

Role Context

The Respiratory Therapist will function as a technical and therapeutic expert, actively contributing to the critical care team. This position requires a dedicated professional capable of delivering advanced respiratory interventions and supporting physicians during urgent medical situations, ensuring high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures, including medical gas therapy, bland/medicated aerosol therapies, and bronchopulmonary hygiene, adhering to established department policies.
• Monitor patient responses and adjust therapies based on clinical/physiologic assessments and physician consultation.
• Accurately read and evaluate physician’s orders.
• Apply mechanical ventilator support, monitor patient responses, and modify ventilator management as needed, based on clinical assessment, physiologic monitoring, laboratory data, and physician consultation.
• Conduct invasive and non-invasive physiologic procedures such as blood gas analysis, TCM, and EtCO2, as per established policies.
• Participate in the development and modification of respiratory care plans and therapeutic goals for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases.
• Provide direct assistance to physicians and the Code Team during cardiac/respiratory arrest situations, with primary responsibilities for patient airway management and blood gas analysis.
• Serve as a member of the Rapid Response Team.
• Deliver advanced emergency airway care, including intubation and tracheal suctioning, according to approved protocols.
• Provide specialized patient therapy, monitor, develop treatment plans, and manage emergencies for patients experiencing cardio-respiratory failure and those on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation).
• Interpret basic EKG tracings and document clinical assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience: Four (4) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist at KFSH&RC, or equivalent Grade 8 related experience, is required.
• Performance: An average annual performance appraisal of at least for the last four (4) years.
• Continuing Education: Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education (CME).
• Registration: Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
• Certifications (North American Graduates): Respiratory Therapy Registry (RRT) from NBRC or CSRT is required.
• Certifications (Adult Patients): Advanced Life Support Course (ACLS) certification is required for staff covering adult patients.
• Certifications (Neo/Pediatric Patients): Paediatric Life Support Course (PALS) certification and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification are required for staff covering neo/pediatric patients.
• Preferred: Endotracheal intubation training.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Medina, within the Critical Care team at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, contributing to a high-acuity patient care setting.
