About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Manager - FWA Data Science to join their team in Jeddah. This full-time role is central to transforming validated FWA analytical prototypes into robust, scalable, and measurable detection models ready for production implementation. The position requires 2-5 years of experience and focuses on model enhancement, feature engineering, calibration, validation, explainability, performance assessment, and continuous model improvement throughout the solution lifecycle.

Role Purpose and Context

The FWA Data Science Manager is responsible for ensuring FWA detection models remain effective, relevant, and aligned with evolving fraud patterns after deployment. This involves close collaboration with Actuarial, Claims Integrity, and FWA AI Engineering teams to maintain the integrity and performance of fraud detection solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and refine AI/ML prototypes from Actuarial teams, improving statistical rigor and clarifying assumptions.
• Enhance feature engineering methodologies and develop explainable detection methods.
• Support the migration of approved analytical models into cloud-based solutions.
• Improve and retrain FWA models using new data and investigation outcomes.
• Develop advanced fraud detection features and enhance anomaly detection models.
• Build risk scoring methodologies and improve model precision and operational effectiveness.
• Define model success metrics and monitor precision, recall, and business impact.
• Perform false-positive and false-negative analysis post-deployment and validate model outputs with investigators.
• Analyze investigation outcomes to identify emerging fraud behaviors and design new detection features.
• Recommend modifications to existing models and collaborate with FWA operations on evolving threats.
• Monitor the business effectiveness of deployed models and recommend retraining and recalibration activities.
• Support periodic model reviews and maintain model documentation and governance artifacts.

Experience and Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in data science, particularly in model development and fraud detection.
• Demonstrated ability to transform analytical prototypes into production-ready models.
• Proficiency in model enhancement, feature engineering, and performance assessment.
• Experience with cloud-based solutions and supporting model migration.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, requiring collaboration with various internal teams including Actuarial, Claims Integrity, and FWA AI Engineering.
