About AbbVie and the Role

AbbVie is dedicated to discovering and delivering innovative medicines and solutions to address serious health issues and future medical challenges. This full-time position is for a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) specializing in Immunology - Dermatology, based in Jeddah. This role is open to Saudi Nationals with 0-1 years of experience.

Role Purpose and Context

Medical Science Liaisons are integral members of the affiliate medical department, operating in field-based roles. The primary focus is on scientific engagement with AbbVie stakeholders, including research and healthcare professionals, payers, and healthcare providers (HCPs). MSLs interact with and support the needs of External Experts (EEs) by communicating scientific information and facilitating dialogue about AbbVie’s marketed products, compounds in development, and related disease states. All activities are conducted in a strictly scientific, non-promotional manner, adhering to national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, AbbVie policies, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Represent AbbVie Medical Affairs as a subject matter expert in the assigned Therapy Area (TA) and territory, building professional relationships with external experts and HCPs.
Serve as a point of contact for external experts within a defined geographic area, providing scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area and, when requested, information on relevant AbbVie medicines to support their safe and appropriate use.
Develop and execute scientific interaction plans and cycle plans, contributing to cross-functional account planning as appropriate.
Maintain a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie in key academic centers by facilitating research and educational initiatives and responding to requests for medical and scientific information.
Support internal teams, such as sales and marketing, by delivering scientific update presentations to enhance their expertise, while collaborating cross-functionally with other in-field members.
Assist in the initiation, oversight, and follow-up of assigned Global Medical Affairs (GMA) studies and medical projects within the therapeutic area of responsibility (*, registry/database projects, epidemiological studies, post-authorization studies).
Support prioritized interventional studies run by Clinical Development Operations (CDO) through study initiation visits and act as a subject matter expert within the One R&D community, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Act as the contact point with external experts to facilitate investigator-initiated study (IIS) ideas and requests for support to local and global medical teams.
Deliver credible scientific presentations to physicians and other HCPs, individually or in groups, with a focus on external experts.
Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences, collaborating with internal stakeholders to summarize key data and scientific information for AbbVie’s strategic initiatives.
Provide scientific and technical support to external experts and internal medical and clinical teams for publications of scientific or medical interest.
Ensure all activities and interactions comply with applicable local, global, and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, company policies, and best practice standards.
