About the Engineering Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Engineering professional for a full-time position in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of property maintenance and overall responsibility for multiple buildings, grounds, and the physical plant, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and asset protection. The position involves managing budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation, while developing strategies to meet or exceed guest and employee expectations and maximize financial performance. Compliance with standards and regulatory requirements is essential, and the role includes leading the emergency response team for all facility issues.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Managing the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Administering service contracts to support property needs and ensuring fire crew has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms.
• Coaching and supporting the engineering leadership team to effectively manage controllable expenses such as wages, utilities, supplies, and vendor agreements.
• Managing and controlling heat, light, and power consumption.
• Developing and managing Engineering budgets and ensuring integration of departmental goals into unit game plans.
• Overseeing the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans.
• Reviewing financial reports to assess performance against budget and addressing potential areas of concern proactively.
• Communicating departmental goals clearly and consistently to achieve desired results.
• Supervising construction projects to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.
• Ensuring compliance with state, local, and federal regulations, and maintaining property life safety systems.
• Ensuring building and equipment licenses, permits, and certifications are current.
• Managing departmental operations to budget by reviewing operating statements and payroll reports.
• Monitoring and managing the payroll function and controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Participating in the development of capital expenditure goals and managing projects as needed.
• Preparing weekly and period-end P&L critiques.
• Understanding the impact of departmental operations on overall property financial goals and educating staff accordingly.
• Ensuring employees are treated fairly and equitably, and that disciplinary procedures are followed.
• Utilizing employee feedback and an "open door" policy to address concerns and celebrating team member contributions.
• Resolving guest problems and complaints and bringing issues to the attention of Human Resources as necessary.
• Ensuring regular communication within the engineering operation to discuss daily activities, set expectations, and communicate business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:

• A high school diploma or GED, with 6 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, and technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
• A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major, with 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, and technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.

The required experience level for this role is between 5-10 years.

This is a full-time position based in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. The role involves overseeing multiple properties and requires a hands-on approach to property maintenance and engineering operations.
