About the Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to join its team in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and involves serving as the property's strategic financial business leader.

Role Overview and Strategic Impact

The Director of Finance & Accounting champions, develops, and implements property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed guest expectations. This role provides financial expertise to support the successful execution of brand service strategies and initiatives, aiming to maximize return on investment. A key responsibility is creating and executing a business plan aligned with the property and brand's strategic direction, focusing on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop strategies to improve profit, including cost-benefit analysis and exploring new business opportunities.
• Analyze financial information, forecast sales against expenses, and create annual budget plans.
• Monitor actual sales against projected sales and analyze variances.
• Identify underlying principles and reasons within financial data by breaking it down into component parts.
• Develop and implement new business plans.
• Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
• Implement appropriate controls to manage business risks and ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets and improve profitability.
• Analyze financial data and market trends, and lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategy.
• Produce accurate forecasts to enable operational adjustments based on business changes.
• Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
• Manage communication with owners effectively, understanding their priorities and strategic focus.
• Manage property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand SOPs and owner requirements.
• Ensure accurate documentation of Profits and Losses and monitor all applicable taxes.
• Submit reports in a timely manner and ensure compliance with management contracts, reporting requirements, and operating procedures.
• Reconcile balance sheets and ensure the accuracy of the P&L.

Leadership and Team Management

• Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating for sound financial and business decision-making.
• Communicate strategic goals, focus, and owner priorities clearly to subordinates.
• Leverage leadership and communication skills to influence the executive team, property strategies, and lead own team.
• Provide clear accountability and appropriate authority to team members and other department managers.
• Conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports.
• Ensure team members are cross-trained to support daily operations.
• Administer property policies fairly and consistently.
• Create development plans for team members based on individual strengths, development needs, and career aspirations.
• Participate in hiring activities as appropriate.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

• Attend meetings and communicate with owners to understand priorities and strategic focus.
• Understand and meet the needs of key stakeholders, including owners, corporate, and guests.
• Advise the General Manager and executive committee on operating and financial issues.
• Communicate financial concepts clearly and persuasively to drive desired behaviors.
• Facilitate critique meetings to review information with the management team.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess:

• A 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 2 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area.
• Alternatively, a Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major with no work experience required.
