About the Role

WTS Energy is seeking a Hull Construction Manager for a full-time position in Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This role is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, and control of all hull construction activities for newbuilding vessel projects. The manager will lead hull fabrication, block assembly, block erection, and related production activities to ensure vessels are constructed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and classification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all hull construction activities from steel fabrication through block assembly, block erection, and structural completion.
  • Ensure project schedules and production targets are achieved in line with contractual milestones.
  • Coordinate construction activities with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Outfitting, and Project teams.
  • Monitor production progress and implement corrective actions to recover schedule delays.
  • Lead steel fabrication workshops, panel lines, sub-assembly, assembly, and block construction operations.
  • Manage block erection and alignment activities within dry docks, slipways, and erection areas.
  • Monitor welding, structural fabrication, dimensional control, and NDT activities.
  • Develop manpower loading plans based on project requirements and allocate personnel effectively.
  • Review project schedules and provide production input during planning phases.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with Classification Society requirements, client specifications, company quality procedures, and international shipbuilding standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and productivity improvement initiatives.

Production and Resource Management

This position is responsible for maximizing productivity, optimizing resources, and managing manpower across all hull construction operations. The manager will ensure efficient utilization of workforce, facilities, equipment, and materials, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality and Safety Compliance

The Hull Construction Manager will ensure strict adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. This includes participating in inspections with Owners, Class Surveyors, and regulatory bodies, supporting the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and conducting regular safety reviews and risk assessments for activities such as heavy lifting, confined space, hot work, and work-at-height.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in hull construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead hull fabrication, block assembly, and block erection activities.
  • Experience in managing project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding standards, classification requirements, and HSE regulations.
  • Proven track record in implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Eastern, Saudi Arabia, focusing on newbuilding vessel projects. The role requires coordination with various internal and external teams to ensure successful project delivery.
