The Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst Role

We are seeking a Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst to join the M&A Advisory Department within the Finance organization. This full-time role supports the development and execution of transactions by providing comprehensive valuation activities for large and complex international transactions, often under challenging deadlines. The department provides finance input throughout the transaction process, including structuring, valuation, due diligence, and support for negotiations and documentation, as well as objective and independent advice to senior management. The successful candidate will be highly numerate, methodical, and organized, capable of managing competing priorities with minimal supervision. A confident communicator and strong team player, the analyst will assimilate into diverse teams and contribute to coaching and mentoring other team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert and objective advice to senior management to support decision-making regarding M&A valuations on specific transactions.
  • Support the development and execution of M&A transactions through comprehensive financial analysis activities, including building and utilizing complex financial models, risk and uncertainty analysis, and producing financial statements.
  • Source and manage valuation inputs from multiple internal and external sources, advising on gaps, deficiencies, and risks.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor team members in areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and methodologies to establish a center of excellence for valuation within the Company.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis activities, including on transfer pricing, impairment reviews, Shareek incentives, and group policy reviews.
  • Manage external Financial Advisors and consultants for valuation activities on transactions.
  • Develop relationships with banks to bring external perspectives on the M&A landscape to the Company.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management, or Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in conducting financial analysis for M&A transactions and developing complex valuation/economic models. This experience is typically gained in leading investment banks, accounting firms, or large international corporations.
  • Significant experience in large and complex cross-border transactions, particularly within the energy or natural resources sectors.
  • Expert-level knowledge and application of financial analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements.
  • Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and international taxation.
