About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center is seeking a Senior Medical Technologist to join its dedicated team in Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves performing and leading specialized functions within a laboratory subsection or unit, ensuring the efficient and high-quality operation of laboratory services. The role requires a professional committed to upholding stringent laboratory standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize workflow and day-to-day operations of the subsection, ensuring all work is completed and reported promptly.
• Assign staff to maximize efficiency and productivity, and disseminate appropriate information to subordinates.
• Maintain the computerized Laboratory Information Systems for the subsection.
• Ensure optimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted services, including maintaining an ordering and supply inventory system.
• Assist in the development of new methodologies and the evaluation of new equipment, and update policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.
• Perform analyses, tests, and procedures as per established laboratory standards, maintaining quality control of the subsection.
• Participate in the Quality Assurance programs of the section, investigate incident reports, and implement associated corrective actions.
• Maintain equipment repair logs and records for equipment operation, maintenance, and repair within the subsection.
• Assist the section supervisor in ongoing employee performance appraisals and counsel subordinates to improve performance.
• Orient, train, provide continuing education, and guide lower-graded personnel, other laboratory and healthcare personnel, students, and residents.
• Assist the section supervisor in the evaluation of potential employment candidates.
• Implement and maintain appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices.
• Perform technical duties as assigned, including coverage during weekends, night shifts, and on-call periods.

Education and Experience Requirements

• A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required with a Master's degree.
• A minimum of four (4) years of related experience is required with a Bachelor's degree.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Strong practical experience with clinical chemistry analyzers, quality control, method validation, and instrument troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards, including CAP and CBAHI, and laboratory quality management systems.
• Experience in validation/verification studies and proficiency testing.

Compliance and Professional Development

The Senior Medical Technologist is expected to comply with all section policies, procedures, and protocols, and to follow the section's quality improvement program in accordance with standards set by CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA, and other accreditation agencies. This role also involves adherence to all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures, and active participation in self and others' education, training, and development initiatives.
