Swimming Pool Technician

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking a Swimming Pool Technician to join their team. This full-time role involves responding to and resolving guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safe operation and repair of various hotel systems and equipment, with a focus on pool heaters and related systems. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Inspect tools, equipment, or machines visually and carry necessary equipment.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved programs and standards.
• Read standard blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and HVAC.
• Perform complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems, including pump/motor replacement, unclogging drains, and replacing electrical switches.
• Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system for all maintenance work.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Train and mentor other engineers as required and perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies, report hazards, and complete safety training.
• Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets.
• Welcome guests according to company standards, anticipate needs, and assist individuals with disabilities.
• Develop positive working relationships and support team goals.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier with assistance.
• Perform tasks requiring movement up and down stairs, ramps, and ladders, including reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping.

Required Qualifications

• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
• Meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or * equivalent with a vocational or technical background.
• Related Work Experience: Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and exterior/interior surface preparation and painting.
• Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.
• License or Certification: Valid Driver’s License.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
• Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above-average skills in three more, and basic skills in the remaining: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management.
