About the HYCO Operator Role

Air Products Qudra is seeking a full-time HYCO Operator to join their team in Al Jubail. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the HYCO facility, ensuring production requirements are met. The position requires 5-10 years of experience.

Operational Responsibilities

The HYCO Operator will manage the operation of the HYCO Steam Methane Reformer and CO2 recovery units, as well as ancillary equipment including water treatment units, following established Work Instruction Procedures. This includes operating the pipeline network to supply hydrogen, steam, and CO2 to customers safely and efficiently. The role also involves managing oxygen and nitrogen pipeline products as part of the overall operating team. The operator will provide operational support and guidance during plant commissioning, maintain accurate document control, and monitor quality assurance initiatives. Ensuring the safety, reliability, and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, and controls is a key aspect of this position. Production will be managed efficiently based on input from Plant Management and Production Engineering to meet safety and reliability targets for profitability.

Safety and Compliance

Maintaining a safe work environment is paramount. The operator will demonstrate leadership in all company and industry safe work processes to prevent injuries and ensure proper documentation for safety-related activities. This includes preparing and implementing safety work permits, LOTO procedures, and managing confined space entries. Compliance with process safety, Management of Change (MOCs), and Occupational Health and Environmental (OH&E) requirements is essential. The operator will ensure that environmental and regulatory requirements are not exceeded during facility operations.

Maintenance and Continuous Improvement

The HYCO Operator will support maintenance and engineering teams by executing scheduled preventive maintenance activities and coordinating corrective maintenance. This collaboration aims to optimize activities during plant shutdowns and avoid business interruptions. The role involves participating in investigations and Root Cause Analysis to identify and implement sustainable corrective actions. Facilitating operational excellence and customer satisfaction through productivity, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives is expected. Maintaining customer communications and relationships at the operational level to satisfy demand rates while maximizing facility efficiency and profitability is also a responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience

This role requires 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field. The operator must be able to follow Site Work Instruction Manuals for HYCO, CO2, and ancillary equipment units, along with other operating and maintenance procedures and checklists. Adherence to Air Products and APQ standards, and global best practices for EH&S, productivity, reliability, quality, and overall customer service is mandatory.

Teamwork and Communication

Close working relationships with engineering and maintenance personnel are crucial for continuously monitoring and evaluating plant systems and equipment. The operator will support and maintain these relationships to ensure plant reliability. Effective communication of plant activities with other shifts is necessary to maintain continuity for safe and reliable operations. Following shift turnover protocols ensures a safe and efficient handover to the incoming shift. The role also involves executing other assigned duties from reporting managers in a timely and efficient manner.
