About the Role

Ades Holding Co. is seeking an Assistant Driller to join their team in Al Khobar. This full-time role operates under the direct supervision of the Driller, providing essential support and participation in various activities to execute drilling and workover programs. The Assistant Driller is responsible for maintaining rig floor equipment, overseeing crew activities, and ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently while prioritizing safety for personnel, the environment, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Driller in all aspects of drilling operations and rig floor activities.
• Supervise and train junior crew members, including Derrick Men, Floor Men, and Roustabouts.
• Assist in the operation, preparation, and routine inspection of drilling equipment and machinery.
• Arrange drill strings, cross-over subs, and bottom hole assemblies (BHA) for continuous operations.
• Direct the drifting and measuring of pipes, maintaining accurate records for drilling and servicing operations, including pipe tally records.
• Monitor and maintain the drilling fluid circulation system, fluid lines, shale shakers, and trip tanks, advising the Driller of any significant changes.
• Inspect machinery and tools for defects, assisting with maintenance, repair, or replacement tasks according to company procedures.
• Oversee the drilling crew in preparing for rig moves, securing equipment, and participating in all related operations.
• Ensure the work area is clean, orderly, and free of hazards, adhering to ADES waste management procedures.
• Conduct training sessions for new drilling crew members on safety procedures and technical competencies.

Well Control and Safety

• Operate and maintain well control equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order and ready for immediate use.
• Monitor for downhole irregularities such as kicks, pressure fluctuations, and abnormal torque.
• Take immediate action to secure the well in the event of a well control incident and promptly inform the Toolpusher and client representative.
• Adhere to and supervise safety protocols, ensuring consistent use of necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard evaluations prior to tasks at elevated locations.
• Effectively communicate identified hazards or safety concerns to the team and contribute to safety measure improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education: High School or Vocational / Technical education.
• At least six (6) years of working experience in drilling and workover operations with reputable drilling contractors.
• Career history demonstrating time served as a Roustabout, Floorman, and Derrickman.
• Preferred to have working experience on offshore rigs.
• Valid Well Control (Well Sharp / IADC) Certificate.
• Certifications as per ADES Training Matrix.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to perform extremely heavy work, including constant climbing (stairs, ladders), pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and standing.
• Capability to work at extreme heights and in confined areas.
• Comfortable working outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (noise, humidity, cold, heat).
• Flexibility to work day and night shifts as required.
