About the Role
Ades Holding Co. is seeking a dedicated Night Tool Pusher to join our team in Al Khobar. This full-time position involves comprehensive supervision and control of all drilling operations during the night shift. The primary objective is to ensure the successful and efficient completion of well and drilling activities, prioritizing the safety of personnel, equipment, and the environment. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in drilling operations and involves close liaison with the OIM, or deputizing for the OIM as required.
Operational Leadership and Oversight
- Oversee all drilling and associated activities on the drill floor and related areas, ensuring operational efficiency and safety standards are met.
- Plan and schedule drilling operations, directing personnel to achieve optimal performance in line with client requirements.
- Ensure all deviations from the client well plan are approved by the OIM and documented by the Client Representative.
- Consult with the OIM and Client's Representative on drilling program progress, keeping the driller informed of objectives and changes.
- Provide relief at the Driller’s console as operational demands require.
- Prepare necessary equipment for subsequent phases of the drilling or workover program.
- Supervise drilling crew at the worksite, ensuring well stability during trips, BHA work, and in case of hole problems.
- Operate the drilling unit in strict adherence to company drilling and well control manuals, including reviewing and approving drilling-related work permits.
Well Control and Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure well control requirements are in place and assist in supervising well killing operations during control situations.
- Plan and monitor comprehensive well control parameters for early detection and swift response to potential issues.
- Maintain and regularly test well control equipment according to company and client standards to ensure readiness.
- Perform all required well control calculations, including mud weight increase and circulating pressures.
- Participate as a member of the Rig’s Emergency Response Team as outlined in the Emergency Plan.
- Instruct all personnel on emergency procedures and ensure well control and general safety drills are conducted and recorded.
Equipment Management and Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist the OIM in ensuring sufficient stock of parts and materials for drilling operations as per contractual needs.
- Oversee planned maintenance and repair of drilling equipment, including drawworks, mud pumps, top drive, rotary table, and BOP, ensuring optimal condition and availability.
- Execute duties related to preparing the rig for towing, ensuring cantilever, rig floor, and drilling equipment are secured prior to rig moves.
- Foster effective working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel, and client representatives.
- Respond to client requests regarding materials, equipment, and personnel, following appropriate management approval.
- Maintain accurate logs and records, submitting required reports promptly according to company protocols and regulatory standards.
- Prepare timely reports, including daily drilling, equipment status, and incident reports, to document operational performance.
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide clear instructions to the team regarding duties, responsibilities, and safety precautions before commencing work.
- Mentor, develop, and train team members to ensure safe and effective operations.
- Identify opportunities for skill and career advancement, supporting the professional growth of team members.
- Ensure the team receives necessary training through on-the-job instruction, classroom sessions, and participation in safety drills.
- Support, promote, and actively participate in ADES’s Competency Assurance Program for the team.
- Evaluate team performance consistently and fairly, identifying areas for improvement and driving the ADVANCE process for performance management.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in drilling operations.
- Certifications: Valid Well Control (Well Sharp / IADC) Certificate and certifications as per ADES Training Matrix.
- Physical Demands:Regularly climbing (stairs, ladders), bending, twisting, and standing.
- Ability to work outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (noise, humidity, cold, heat).
- Ability to work up to 12 hours per day during the shift.
