About the Night Tool Pusher Role

ADES - Advanced Energy Systems is seeking a dedicated Night Tool Pusher to join our full-time operations in Saudi Arabia. This critical role involves supervising and controlling all drilling activities during the night shift, ensuring the successful completion of well and drilling operations while prioritizing safety, environmental protection, and equipment integrity. The Night Tool Pusher will also liaise closely with the OIM or deputize for the OIM as required, maximizing drilling operation efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all drilling operations during the night shift, ensuring personnel and equipment safety and operational efficiency on the drill floor and associated areas.
  • Plan and schedule drilling and related activities, directing personnel to achieve optimal performance according to client requirements.
  • Liaise with the OIM and Client's Representative on drilling program progress, ensuring any deviations from the well plan are approved and documented.
  • Relieve the Driller at the console as operational needs dictate and ensure all necessary equipment is prepared for the next phase of the drilling/workover program.
  • Supervise drilling crew at the worksite, ensuring sufficient circulating time and well stability during trips, BHA work, and in case of hole problems.
  • Operate the drilling unit in strict adherence to company Drilling & Well Control manuals, reviewing and approving all drilling-related work permits.
  • Implement well control requirements, assist in supervising well killing operations, and proactively monitor parameters for early detection of issues.
  • Maintain and regularly test well control equipment according to company and client standards, performing all necessary well control calculations.
  • Participate as a member of the Rig’s Emergency Response Team, instructing personnel on emergency procedures and ensuring well control and general safety drills are conducted and recorded.
  • Assist the OIM in maintaining sufficient stock of parts and materials and ensure planned maintenance and repair of drilling equipment (drawworks, mud pumps, top drive, rotary table, BOP) are completed and documented.
  • Execute duties related to preparing the rig for towing, ensuring cantilever, rig floor, and drilling equipment are secured prior to rig moves.
  • Foster effective working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel, and client representatives, responding to client requests with appropriate management approval.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records, submitting required reports (daily drilling, equipment status, incident) promptly as per company protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Provide clear instructions, mentor, develop, and train team members for safe and effective operations, supporting their professional growth and participation in ADES’s Competency Assurance Program.
  • Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and drive the ADVANCE process to formalize a performance management culture.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Vocational/Technical Qualification.
  • A minimum of 15 years of working experience in drilling and workover operations with reputable drilling contractors.
  • Career history must demonstrate time served as an Assistant Driller, Driller, and Tool Pusher.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a Tool Pusher position.
  • Proven working experience on offshore rigs is required.

Essential Certifications

  • Valid Well Control (Well Sharp / IADC) Certificate.
  • Certifications as per the ADES Training Matrix.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to regularly climb stairs and ladders.
  • Capability for regular bending, twisting, and standing.
  • Capacity to work outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (noise, humidity, cold, heat).
  • Ability to work up to 12 hours per day during the assigned shift.
