Role Overview: Design Architect

Sumou Investment is seeking a Design Architect to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern region. This full-time position will support the Design & Technical Services Department in managing design quality and optimizing the company's development portfolio.

Purpose of the Role

The Design Architect will play a central role in coordinating consultants, conducting technical reviews, and developing concepts for various projects. This position supports executive decision-making by evaluating consultant submissions and preparing internal design studies, ensuring all projects align with Sumou Investment's design vision, commercial objectives, and development standards. The role involves close collaboration with consultants, operators, internal departments, and executive management to enhance project quality and support the company's long-term development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural design submissions across Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design, and Tender stages.
• Support consultant management and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Prepare concept studies, design alternatives, test fits, and feasibility layouts for management review.
• Review space planning, functionality, circulation, and user experience.
• Evaluate compliance with project briefs, operator requirements, and development objectives.
• Coordinate with Interior Design, Landscape, Engineering, Cost, and Project Management teams.
• Participate in design workshops and technical coordination meetings.
• Assist in value engineering and design optimization initiatives.
• Prepare executive presentations and technical reports.
• Conduct benchmarking studies and research on international developments.
• Support the preparation of design standards and departmental technical guidelines.
• Assist in monitoring consultant performance and submission quality.

The ideal candidate is a proactive architect demonstrating strong design and technical capabilities. This individual should effectively bridge the gap between consultant design teams and Sumou Investment's business objectives. The role requires the ability to evaluate design quality, prepare independent design studies, support management decisions, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality developments while maintaining a commercial mindset and collaborative approach.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant architectural design role, demonstrating a proven track record in managing design processes and coordinating with various stakeholders.
