Director of Rooms

About the Role

Kempinski Hotels is seeking a Director of Rooms to oversee the operational aspects of the Rooms Division. This full-time position is based in Al Khobar, Eastern region, and requires 2-5 years of relevant experience. The Director of Rooms ensures that all related departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, Spa, and Recreation, operate efficiently and adhere to brand and hotel standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of the hotel’s strategic plan.
• Prepare budgets and monitor revenues, holding profit and loss responsibility.
• Coordinate with Revenue Management and Sales to maximize room occupancy, rates, and profits, aiming for optimal Revenue Penetration Market Share.
• Control duty rosters for sub-departments to ensure quality and personnel cost efficiency.
• Oversee labor cost controls within budget limits and occupancy variances to maximize productivity.
• Conduct interviews with potential candidates.
• Manage all operational tasks, including delegation and follow-up.
• Re-evaluate workflows to improve and optimize organization.
• Implement and evaluate procedures and policies.
• Ensure clear communication with all other department heads.
• Create career development plans for employees identified as part of the Talent Pool or High Potentials.
• Organize regular departmental meetings.
• Communicate management strategy and targets to department heads and line staff, ensuring implementation.
• Ensure and communicate up-to-date procedures for all safety-relevant measures with the Fire & Safety team.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure quality standards and cleanliness in front and back of the house areas.
• Check the technical situation of departments within the Rooms Division.
• Maintain high visibility with guests and employees.
• Responsible for maintaining an 85% score during LQA inspections.
• Handle pre-opening tasks and responsibilities where applicable.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry. The role requires a strong understanding of Rooms Division operations and departmental management.

Leadership and Management

This position involves significant leadership responsibilities, including personnel management, budget oversight, and strategic planning contributions. The Director of Rooms is expected to drive operational excellence and foster a high-performance environment.

Operational Standards and Quality Assurance

A key aspect of this role is ensuring adherence to established brand standards and maintaining high levels of quality across all Rooms Division departments. This includes regular inspections and a commitment to achieving specific quality assurance scores.
