GIB is currently seeking a Senior Operations & Backup Engineer to join its dedicated team.

Role Overview

The Senior Operations & Backup Engineer will be responsible for the administration and operational monitoring of the bank's backup solutions, ensuring these tools align with GIB’s targeted vision. This full-time role involves supporting critical daily operations, including Business As Usual (BAU), End-of-Day (EOD), and Start-of-Day (SOD) processes. A key focus is on controlling all software applications, such as core banking and treasury systems, through standard operating procedures, while ensuring continuous system availability and up-to-date backup operations.

Core Operational Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor backup solutions, driving their alignment with the bank’s strategic vision.
• Support daily operations (BAU / EOD / SOD) and control all software applications, including core banking and treasury systems, using standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with various IT Departments to gather business requirements for EOD flows and backup/restore operations, ensuring satisfaction.
• Maintain implementation standards and support documentation to ensure adequate service levels.

Backup and Automation System Management

• Deliver implementation, release deployment/configuration, monitoring, and support services for backup tools, primarily based on EMC Networker Products.
• Provide monitoring and support services for scheduling tools, specifically BMC Control-M Products, and backup solutions utilizing DELL EMC Networker Products.
• Offer technical support and administration for the Backup Tool and its related plug-ins, including investigation, assessment, and resolution of support issues, which may involve designing, building, and modifying batch schedules.
• Provide technical support for the Automation Tool and its related plug-ins, including investigation, assessment, and resolution of support issues, which may involve designing, building, and modifying job configurations.
• Plan and implement system enhancements, including necessary upgrades.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Compliance

• Ensure all business systems and applications are continuously monitored for availability and optimal functioning.
• Maintain and keep backup operations up-to-date, ensuring data backup is handled according to the Bank's Policies and Procedures.
• Conduct daily monitoring, analysis, and support for End-of-Day (EOD) processes across all environments.
• Monitor, analyze, and support backup/restore operations, reporting any issues to the concerned teams.
• Report issues, statistics, and analysis primarily to the functional support teams of key IT systems within the IT department.
• Monitor business systems and bank transactions to ensure all systems are up and functioning at all times, reporting issues to the concerned team within the IT department.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for this Senior Operations & Backup Engineer position will possess 5 to 10 years of experience in relevant IT operations and backup engineering roles. A strong technical background in backup solutions, scheduling tools, and system administration is essential, coupled with a proactive approach to system monitoring, issue resolution, and adherence to banking policies and procedures.
