About the Role

Quality Compliance is seeking a Safety Officer for a full-time position in Al Khobar, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. This role is specifically for Saudi nationals and involves working on construction and building projects, including the Sheraton Hotel project in Al Khobar. The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring occupational safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with local and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Officer will perform a range of duties focused on maintaining high safety standards on project sites:

• Conduct daily site inspections and monitor unsafe practices and conditions, implementing necessary corrective actions.
• Ensure workers and contractors comply with safety instructions and use personal protective equipment.
• Participate in preparing and reviewing occupational risk assessments.
• Review work permits for high-risk activities, such as work at heights, hot work, and confined spaces, ensuring control measures are in place.
• Prepare and conduct daily or weekly safety awareness meetings (Toolbox Talks).
• Orient new workers on safety and occupational health procedures and promote a safety culture.
• Investigate accidents, occupational injuries, and near misses, analyze root causes, and propose preventive measures.
• Prepare periodic inspection and safety reports, maintaining records of incidents and observations.
• Follow up on the closure of safety observations issued by regulatory bodies and consultants.
• Contribute to developing and updating emergency response plans and oversee evacuation drills.
• Ensure the readiness of emergency equipment and evacuation exits.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
• Certified professional qualification such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of experience in occupational safety and health within construction and building projects.
• Proficiency in both Arabic and English, spoken and written.

• Ability to identify risks and implement appropriate preventive measures.
• Capability to halt work in cases of serious and imminent danger, in accordance with approved procedures.
• Skills in preparing technical and incident reports.
• Ability to work in a field environment and manage work pressures.
• Familiarity with occupational safety and health regulations and relevant international standards.
