Control Room Operator

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Control Room Operator to join their team in Al Qassim. This full-time position involves monitoring and controlling plant operating parameters and coordinating with other operators to ensure smooth plant operations. The role requires 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations and maintain familiarity with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
• Understand plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, and emergency operating procedures.
• Monitor unit parameters, record periodic readings, and summarize shift activities and events in the logbook.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor, coordinating operational activities with other operators.
• Respond promptly and effectively to abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure proper Lock Out & Tag Out (LOTO) procedures during equipment isolation for maintenance, in accordance with approved Permit to Work (PTW) procedures. Normalize equipment as instructed after cancellation.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during shifts to ensure all equipment parameters are within acceptable limits, reporting any abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor or Shift Charge Engineer.
• Perform periodic protection tests under supervision and maintain required records. Execute equipment changeovers according to established schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment and follow up on rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations related to the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a control room or plant operations role.
• Demonstrated understanding of plant operations, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
• Ability to monitor complex systems and respond effectively to operational changes.

Work Environment

This role requires readiness to work in a remote location within Al Qassim. The position is full-time, and salary details will be discussed during the interview process.
