About the Faculty Position in Physics

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, invites applications for faculty positions within its Physics Department. This is a full-time, renewable two-year contract opportunity for individuals with expertise in specific areas of physics.

Department and Research Focus

The Physics Department at KFUPM is recognized for its strong research programs and is equipped with comprehensive experimental facilities. The department is seeking candidates with expertise in one of the following areas:

• Experimental atomic and molecular physics
• Optical and laser physics
• Nuclear and theoretical physics

Role Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to establish an independent research program and to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Significant funding is available to support the establishment of research programs.

Qualifications and Experience

Preference will be given to recent ** graduates or postdocs from reputable institutions. Applicants should possess a strong record of published research. Relevant teaching experience at the university level is required, as is teaching and/or industrial experience in the respective areas of specialization.

Employment Conditions

KFUPM offers competitive tax-free salaries commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position includes a two-year renewable contract. Benefits provided include a furnished, air-conditioned on-campus housing unit with utilities and maintenance, air tickets for appointment and repatriation for up to four individuals, and a contribution towards local tuition fees for school-age dependent children. A local transportation allowance is also provided. Employees receive two months of paid summer leave, medical insurance, and an end-of-service gratuity after two years of continuous service.

Campus Facilities and Language Requirements

The KFUPM campus provides a range of facilities, including a medical and dental clinic, a health club with a swimming pool, an extensive library, computing and research laboratories, a recreation center, and a private beach. Applicants must be fluent in English, as it is the medium of instruction at the university.
