About the Role

Plant.Digital is seeking a Senior Project Engineer Digital to join its Delivery Engineering Department. This full-time, client-facing role is based in Dhahran, Eastern region, and involves coordinating project execution activities during the delivery phase. The successful candidate will be part of a project team, functionally reporting to a Project Manager for specific client contracts, with primary responsibility for ensuring the successful delivery of digital projects as planned and to client satisfaction. The role also requires effectively driving recovery from schedule, cost, and scope deviations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, execute, and monitor project execution plans and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, Delivery Engineering Manager, and Delivery Specialists to ensure projects are executed strictly as planned.
  • Oversee and lead various project activities including design, configuration/build, deployment, testing (FAT/UAT, SAT/iUAT, PATs), site commissioning, and closure/hand-over.
  • Validate and communicate any scope changes, ensuring adherence to Change Control procedures.
  • Review and certify invoicing activities from clients or to suppliers.
  • Develop project progress update presentations and reports, including SPIs and CPIs.
  • Closely monitor project performance indices and highlight any forecasted risks of slippages or deviations as part of the reporting process.
  • Hold recurring meetings with client personnel onsite during project execution.
  • Ensure that all designs and other work outputs related to solution design maintain a quality consistent with business needs and industry standards.
  • Formulate and implement strategies to improve project planning, cost, schedule, and/or quality.
  • Evaluate existing tools and methodologies and make recommendations on their implementation.
  • Lead internal or external problem-solving teams as directed by management.
  • Conduct project management training to develop junior engineers.
  • Participate in the development of standards, guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures on an as-required basis.
  • Participate in the review and evaluation of the capabilities of vendors/sub-contractors, suppliers, and project management related service providers.
  • Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in digitalization and software projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the digitalization/software development life cycle and the wider principles of project management.
  • A background in Software Engineering.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of planning and scheduling methods such as CPM and PERT.
  • Knowledge and experience in Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), SCADA, Historian, OPC UA, IT/OT Integration, Industrial Automation, and Control Systems.
  • Knowledge background in Manufacturing Operation Management Applications, including but not limited to: Asset Predictive Analytics, Asset Performance Management, Cost/Schedule Performance Management, Operation Management, Inventory Management, and Quality Management.

Candidate Profile

  • Ability to consult client contractual documentation to ensure compliance, especially regarding schedule, cost/financial, and quality.
  • Project-driven with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Flexible to handle a wide range of coordination tasks.
  • Eager and able to learn quickly and independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Work Setting

This is a full-time position based in Dhahran, within the Eastern region.
