About Petromin Corporation
Petromin Corporation is seeking a dedicated Field Services Engineer to join its team. This full-time position is based in the Makkah region, with responsibilities covering cities such as Jeddah and Makkah, focusing on providing essential technical support for commercial vehicles and trucks.
Role Overview
The Field Services Engineer will deliver comprehensive technical and field service support for commercial vehicles and trucks. This involves diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues directly at customer sites, workshops, and various vehicle locations. The role is crucial for supporting service operations, ensuring effective troubleshooting and repairs, and acting as a primary technical liaison between the company, workshops, customers, and the manufacturer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical support for commercial vehicles, trucks, and other assigned vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and drivability issues.
- Conduct field inspections and technical investigations for vehicle complaints and failures.
- Support workshops and technicians in identifying root causes of technical problems and provide repair recommendations.
- Attend breakdowns and critical technical cases as required.
- Analyze vehicle symptoms, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), test results, and repair history using specialized diagnostic tools.
- Support the resolution of repeated and difficult-to-diagnose vehicle failures.
- Perform technical inspections before and after major repairs, including road and functional tests.
- Prepare detailed technical reports for major failures, repeated complaints, and field cases, documenting findings, root causes, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with the Warranty team, providing technical evidence and failure analysis for warranty investigations.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical cases to the manufacturer and ensure follow-up until resolution.
- Review and implement manufacturer Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), Service Campaigns, Recalls, and technical instructions.
- Support workshops during new model introductions and major technical issues, including providing technical training and on-the-job guidance.
- Monitor recurring technical issues, identify trends, and provide feedback to the manufacturer regarding product quality concerns.
- Ensure all field activities adhere to company and manufacturer safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of field visits, technical cases, repairs, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automotive Technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in automotive technical support, field service, dealership, fleet, or commercial vehicle operations.
- Mandatory experience with commercial vehicles, trucks, and diesel engines.
- Strong practical experience in vehicle diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting workshops and technicians.
- Experience dealing with customers and technical complaints is preferred.
- Experience working with heavy-duty or commercial vehicle manufacturers is highly preferred.
Technical Expertise and Professional Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, including diesel engines and their management systems, fuel injection, cooling, lubrication, and air intake systems.
- Expertise in manual and automated/automatic transmissions, differential, driveline, 4WD systems (where applicable), brake systems (including air brakes), steering, and suspension systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, CAN Bus, and vehicle communication systems.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic scanners and OEM diagnostic software for troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle failures.
- Excellent technical and diagnostic skills with strong root-cause analysis capability.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently in the field, manage multiple technical cases under pressure, and demonstrate strong coordination and follow-up skills.
- Good technical reporting skills, with a focus on safety and quality.
Additional Requirements
- A valid Saudi driving license is required.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Saudi Arabia is essential for this role.
