About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Jeddah is seeking a dedicated Polysomnography Technologist II to join its team. This full-time role involves providing specialized technological expertise in sleep studies to support the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience in the field.

Core Responsibilities

The Polysomnography Technologist II performs a range of sleep procedures essential for patient diagnosis and treatment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing various sleep studies, including overnight sleep studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), CPAP, and BiPAP titrations.
  • Preparing patients for sleep studies, which encompasses admission, patient education, complete setup of all electrodes, and discharge following the polysomnography assessment.
  • Reviewing patient medical history, clinical information, and medications, as well as analyzing patient data and verifying documentation related to procedure requests.
  • Applying electrodes and sensors with appropriate post-calibrations to ensure the acquisition of artifact-free signals.
  • Performing necessary troubleshooting to acquire high-quality sleep data.

Patient Safety and Documentation

This role emphasizes patient safety and accurate documentation throughout the study process. Responsibilities include:

  • Documenting all routine observations, including sleep stages, respiratory events, and other significant clinical events.
  • Implementing appropriate interventions necessary for patient safety during the study.
  • Demonstrating the knowledge and skills required to recognize and provide age-specific assessment and care in accordance with established policies.
  • Assisting with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events such as respiratory events, periodic limb movements, and arousals, utilizing accepted professional guidelines.

Operational Support

The Polysomnography Technologist II also contributes to the operational efficiency and maintenance of the sleep laboratory. This involves:

  • Operating and maintaining equipment and accessories used in sleep studies.
  • Maintaining all necessary stock and supplies required to perform procedures in the sleep laboratory.
  • Participating in performance improvement activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Certifications

Candidates must possess specific academic qualifications and professional certifications to be considered for this role:

  • Successful completion of a Polysomnography program with documented proficiency.
  • Current Registration from the country of origin and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
  • A Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory.

Additional Requirements

Beyond core qualifications, applicants should meet the following professional criteria:

  • An average annual performance appraisal of at least for the last four (4) years.
  • Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education (CME).
  • Demonstrated effective written and spoken communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions.
